Chris Hemmen has worked for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) for 29 years. He currently holds the rank of Major and serves as the Operational Commander and Chief of Staff for the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Task Force (CVETF). The CVETF is comprised of sworn and administrative personnel from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and DPS. The CVETF is responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement on state highways, providing statewide commercial vehicle training, and protecting Arizona infrastructure by manning more than 20 ports of entry. His law enforcement career has involved a wide range of experiences in patrol, criminal interdiction, canine training, logistics administration, fleet management, operational training, and information technology. He also served as the Chief of Staff for the Highway Patrol Division. Chris is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Certified Public Manager Program. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University. Chris is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS).
